ABOUT PUBLISHING EXPLAINED
Publishing Explained has been set up to answer the many questions received from visitors to www.poetrymagic.co.uk and www.poetry-portal.com concerning the publication and marketing of their work. Practically everything they need is now on this site, which allows us to simply point them to its pages.
Publishing-explained.com draws on the varied experience of its editor, Colin John Holcombe, who was Chairman of the UK's longest-lived poetry-writing circle, a London-based association of published poets, novelists and journalists founded in the 1930s. He has worked as a commercial desktop publisher, and published one of the first product guides to desktop PCs and their software. As a web professional he helped program the world's largest online gambling site, and designed sites providing literary, travel and financial services. His work has won awards, and a portal site features in the Prentice Hall publication "Designing Usable Web Interfaces". His own site is www.textetc.com.
Publishing Explained is owned and maintained by Litlangs Publishing Ltda. — which also owns www.poetrymagic.co.uk, www.poetry-portal.com and www.ecommerce-digest.com. The poetry sites receive upwards of a million visitors a year, and are listed on many thousands of academic and literary sites. Ecommerce Digest sells an ebook to some forty countries worldwide, and is ranked in the top ten sites for online selling by Google, against a competition of 120 million.
The advice given on Publishing Explained is therefore based on successful practice, though the amount of work involved should not be underestimated.
